We are thrilled to share this incredible news with our partners! Washington Campus Life recently experienced a day filled with joy and divine intervention as we baptized 14 students and 3 community members. This remarkable event showcases God’s profound work in our community.

When Stephen Thomas came on staff as Washington’s Director in 2020, there were no students. Now, there are regularly 25 middle school students and 15 high school students involved, clearly showing the hand of God at work.

Over the last 2 years, Washington’s ministry team labored with these students to help them build a relationship with God through the life of Jesus Christ. At times, the lack of visible results caused the team to scratch their heads, wondering why no one seemed to be coming to Christ. However, this challenge also sparked healthy conversations and engaged them in prayer for God’s Spirit to move.

This year, the Washington team saw God’s hand at work from start to finish. Students asked great questions, participated in more one-on-ones with leaders, and showed a deeper hunger the team hadn’t seen before.

Towards the end of April, one Campus Life student requested to be baptized, sparking a conversation about baptism, among others. Through many group and one-on-one discussions, the team made sure the students understood what it meant to be baptized. This resulted in 14 students committed to Jesus and ready to be baptized.

At the end of May, the baptisms were scheduled. Students were encouraged to invite their family and friends. About 50 people packed Washington’s facility, and God’s glory manifested!

After baptizing the 14 students, two older women in their 70s also asked for baptism. Although dressed only in street clothes, they felt moved by God’s Spirit to be baptized immediately. Both had walked with the Lord but had never been baptized before.

Following their baptism, the sister of one of the students, Journey, asked to be baptized. When asked if she knew Jesus, she answered, “no.” Stephen and Kace Crino (Washington High School Campus Life Director) knelt beside Journey, explained salvation, who it is through, and asked if she desired to follow Jesus, and be part of God’s family. She said, “yes,” and they immediately had the honor of baptizing Journey too.

The team celebrates this Kingdom victory but doesn’t rest there. They understand their responsibility in discipling these new believers and believe the Spirit of God will lead and direct them according to His word and will. Thank you, Jesus!
