When Tyler first walked through the doors of Peters Township Campus Life, he carried the weight of deep personal loss and struggles. What he found was a family-like community that showed him Christ’s love in ways that transformed his faith and life—his story is one you won’t want to miss.
Tyler’s Story
My name is Tyler, and I’m a 16-year-old junior. Born with high-functioning autism, Tourette’s, and a stuttering impediment, I’ve faced my share of challenges, but they haven’t stopped me from pursuing what I love.
Life took a heartbreaking turn in 2021 when I lost my dad to COVID pneumonia, which left me struggling with depression. That depression made school a challenge as well. That’s when my friend Luke invited me to Peters Township Campus Life. From that moment on, my life began to change.
At Campus Life, I found a community of amazing leaders and friends who became like family. Their steady support showed me how deeply God cares for me—not just in an abstract way, but through people who loved me like Jesus would. They listened, encouraged me, and walked with me through my grief and struggles.
I began to feel hope again and started believing that I wasn’t walking this journey alone. Through trips like Heatwave, I grew closer to God and started understanding His role in my life.
Processing my dad’s passing wasn’t easy, but the support I received allowed me to heal and deepen my faith. A year later, I took another step forward by getting baptized at Heatwave, a decision that brought me even closer to Jesus.
Following Jesus hasn’t been a perfect road—I’ve made mistakes and faced struggles—but God’s love is constant. Recently, I committed to improving myself spiritually, mentally, and physically, even sitting down to read the entire Bible for the first time.
My journey isn’t over, and I hope my story inspires you to take steps closer to Him too. No matter who you are or what you’re facing, God is ready to meet you where you are.
