A two-day snowfall left a foot of snow and canceled Bethel Park Campus Life on January 27.

This snowstorm also indiscriminately canceled schools, sports and community events, meetings, and non-essential gatherings. Life came to a freezing halt!

However, what had a unilateral impact on all non-emergency activities did NOT stop middle school students from gathering for Campus Life.

On their own, unbeknownst to Grant (Interim Director) and the other adult leaders, Bethel Parkโ€™s middle school kids organized and ran a Campus Life meeting anyway on FaceTime! These โ€œdigital nativesโ€ have grown up in a digital world, so using technology was second nature to them.

Miley first came up with the idea and shared it with her friends. Brett and Hannah encouraged it to happen, and Brett set up the FaceTime. Later, Brettโ€™s mom reached out to our leaders with a quick heads-up and a note of thanks:

I thought youโ€™d enjoy knowing this! The middle school campus life kids were bummed it got canceled.โ€ฏ So they decided to have their own meeting tonight on FaceTime.โ€ฏ ๐Ÿคญ.โ€ฏ Brett volunteered to be โ€œGrantโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚. โ€ฏ I only found out about this bc I overheard Brett calling his older sister in college last night and asking her for tips on how to lead a discussion! He has a whole plan! ๐Ÿฅฐ.

Thank you for inspiring these kids so much in their faith and for giving them a โ€œhomeโ€!

Kids today are hungry. They want substance, truth, and purpose. And they are going to seek it. Jesus provides it.

Youth For Christ wants to be present in those spaces and offer Jesus as the source kids need, giving them a โ€œhomeโ€ where they feel known, because they will seek it whether we are there or not.

Thank you for partnering with us to be there for teenagers even if weather is not permitting!
