Miles’ story began with a simple invitation. During his freshman year, Xander and Connor were more than football teammates. They were student leaders who noticed Miles, made room for him, and invited him to Campus Life. He began attending South Fayette Campus Life around Thanksgiving, drawn to its fun and welcoming community. He kept coming because his friends were there, and his connection with Campus Life leaders continued to grow.
A little more than a year later, Miles attended Fallout in 2022 during his sophomore year. There, he gave his life to Christ. Throughout high school, he kept showing up, building friendships, and growing in his faith.
“I love the community and how everyone gets together to talk about Christ,” Miles said. “I also love how everyone continues to advance in their spiritual journey together.”
That growth became clear by Miles’ senior year. The quiet, reserved freshman had come out of his shell, and younger students began looking to him as a leader. Xander and Connor had once invited Miles and made room for him. Now he was helping younger students find their place too.
Miles’ baptism at Heatwave (annual high school summer trip) on July 2 marked more than the end of a student trip. Only weeks after his June 2026 graduation, Andrew Barney, South Fayette Ministry Supervisor, took a step back and reflected on a picture of what God had done over four years. The quiet freshman who entered Campus Life through an invitation from two football teammates had grown into a young man ready to publicly declare his faith.
